Jul 2026 in brief.
Sixteen events and a ≥$9.09B floor, second only to May. Lockheed Martin’s $3.45B agreement for Ultra Maritime (sonar, sonobuoys and torpedo defense, from Advent’s Cobham Ultra) was the largest strategic acquisition on the tape since Motorola–Silvus. Europe supplied the two largest financings: Helsing’s $1.8B Series E (Dragoneer) and Quantum Systems’ $1.2B Series D (Blackstone, Airbus, Advent) — Quantum’s fourth round on the tape, up from $40M in September 2024. Ondas completed its $876M acquisition of DZYNE Technologies (UAS, counter-UAS and precision strike), Leonardo DRS agreed to buy Raft’s mission software for $450M, and K2 Space raised a $500M Series D (Kleiner Perkins, ICONIQ). Antares Nuclear’s $370M Series C targets microreactors for military installations; Kraken Technology Group’s $175M Series B (UK) and Venus Aerospace’s $91M Series B (rotating-detonation propulsion) sit in the middle; Singularity Defense emerged with an $80M Series A (Khosla, Felicis) for low-cost interceptors, and Senra Systems raised $65M; Twenty added a $30M strategic tranche. Carlyle’s purchase of Secturion (NSA-certified encryption), Arlington’s Highwater naval-services platform, Novaria’s Avantus add-on and Space-Eyes’ SPAC agreement were undisclosed.
Two things are new in July. European defense-tech is now raising at US scale — Helsing and Quantum Systems together exceed every US venture round on the tape except Anduril’s Series H — and undersea and maritime warfare is a category strategics now pay up for (Ultra Maritime here; AEVEX’s BlackSea purchase follows in August). For experts, sonar, torpedo defense and small-UAS integration are the scarce areas. For investors, Ondas — two acquisitions in two months after leading Performance Drone Works’ round in March — is the acquirer whose next move is worth anticipating.
Activity vs each domain’s own baseline.
Each cell is the number of publicly announced deals in that domain and month. Color compares the month with that domain’s own average over the months shown — not a scale shared across domains — so a dark cell in a small domain means “busy for that domain”, not “large in dollars”. Domains with fewer than 12 events in the window are shown in gray without color. Absolute totals across all 24 months are on the archive home.

Method & coverage
Public sources only · Issue window = first public announcement in Jul 2026 · 16 announced or closed events (F 9 · M 6 · P 1) · Disclosed floor ≥$9.09B across 12 of 16 (25% undisclosed) · Closings of deals first announced in an earlier month are not counted again here · Capital-supply items are sidebar-only and excluded from domain statistics · Heat-map colors use each domain’s own trailing-12-month baseline.
Event codes & terms
Disclosed floor — the sum of publicly disclosed amounts only. Undisclosed deals add zero, so read every total as “at least”.
Announcement month — events are dated to their first public announcement. A close in a later month does not move the event.
Mission domain — the market the capital is buying: the investor’s thesis first, the product second. One primary domain per event.
Heat-map baseline — color compares a month’s count with the same domain’s average over the trailing 12 months shown. Grey means fewer than 12 events in the window, too few to color.
About ASC
Abelian Security Council (ASC) gives clients in defense, national security and critical technologies direct, compliant access to the people who researched, designed, built, evaluated, bought, deployed and competed with the systems they are underwriting. Pulse is the public layer of that work: a curated tape of announced financings, acquisitions and listings, compiled from public sources and published monthly. Clients can schedule a call with Owen Davies, ASC’s Chief Executive. Members can apply to join.
